Allergy Alert: Some scout activities include eating Peanut Butter. Please bear this in mind when scheduling scouting events.

Scout Saturday. We accept reservations for scout groups of 20 or more paid scout tickets.

Scout Saturday for individual scouts is SUSPENDED until Fall, 2019. Info below is for when we start up again.

WHEN: 4 – 6 p.m., always the second Saturday of each month

WHAT: Attend the 4 p.m. public show already scheduled for that day, plus a one-hour scout presentation with planet tour immediately following the show.

FOR: $15 per scout. Scout ticket includes one parent at no additional charge.

$10 per additional adult.

$8 for tag-alongs.

ACHIEVEMENTS:

Boy Scouts will complete most of the requirements for the Astronomy merit badge;

Cub Scouts will complete most of the requirements for the Astronomy activity pin and/or belt loop;

American Heritage Girls will complete most of the requirements for the Space Exploration Badge.

Scout Event

WHEN: Make reservation with a minimum of 20 scouts.

WHAT: Reserve a room for your pack meeting, court of honor, induction ceremonies or award
ceremonies (Webelo Transition/Bridge ceremony or crossover) and include a full-dome show in your program (See http://www.starsatnight.org/shows/publicshows.html for list). Two hours total, including show. Bring your own refreshments and decorations.

FOR: $8 per scout, $6 per adult, no tag-alongs, leaders are free.

Special Scout Event

WHEN: Make reservation with a minimum of 20 attendees.

WHAT: Reserve a room for your Blue and Gold banquet, Eagle court of honor or district recognition
dinner. Catering provided by Great Western Dining (254-526-1844/1242).  
Include a full-dome show in your program and show your program presentation in the

FOR: $15 per scout, $6 per adult, no tag-alongs, leaders are free.

Science Presentation

WHEN: Make reservation with a minimum of 20 attendees.

WHAT: Science presentation and hands-on activities for 1.5 hours that cover most of the
requirements for an activity pin, belt loop or merit badge. See list of offerings.

FOR: $10 per scout, $8 per adult, no tag-alongs, leaders are free. Add a show for $4/person more.

Snore and Explore

Scout Leaders - Allergy Alert: Snore & Explore activities include eating Peanut Butter. Please pass this down to your scout's parents before booking!

Sleep under the stars come rain or shine in our planetarium. Snore and Explore is an overnight event geared to scouts and youth groups such as American Heritage Girls, Camp Fire Girls, etc.It takes place under the stars in our planetarium dome.

WHEN: 7pm - 7am on Fridays only. Check in at 6 p.m. Friday evening with reveille at 7 a.m. sharp Saturday morning.

RESERVATIONS: Reservations required. Make reservations early - the earlier the better. We need to start planing 60 days out. We must have firm reservations one week prior to the event. A 25% non-refundable down payment is required to confirm the event.

Call 254 526-1589. We need a minimum purchase of 20 scout tickets, to schedule the event. The event has a maximum of 50 people (scouts plus chaperones and leaders) due to space.

WHAT: Staff provides programs, activities, games, dome show, telescope viewing (weather permitting) and sleepover in the dome. Program includes a show at 7:00 p.m.. Reveille is at 7 a.m. with sunrise in the dome.

FOR: $36 per scout, $18 per adult chaperone, and leaders are free on a 1:10 ratio (one free leader for every 10 paid scouts). Tag-alongs same price as scouts. A 25% non-refundable down payment is required to confirm the event.

Important:

  1. Firm reservations required one week prior to event. A 25% non-refundable down payment is required to book a snore & explore sleepover.
  2. Scout leaders (not our staff) are responsible for the discipline, safety, and roll call accountability of their scouts and invited minors.
  3. We require a minimum of 1 leader or chaperone for every 10 kids.
  4. The building closes at 8 A.M. Saturday and all staff are released. Everyone must vacate the premises by 8 A.M. Saturday. 

  5. $50 surcharge for each 15 minute increment of time after 8:00 AM.

SPECIAL INSTRUCTIONS FOR SCOUT LEADERS: In addition to reservations, we require the following paperwork for overnight stays:

  1. A valid Certificate of General Liability Insurance (COI) that covers everyone attending. COI must be in our hands prior to the event. Check with your council for COI.
  2. Waivers of Liability. Everyone, minors and adults, must have a waiver. There are two types of waivers:
  • Minors need a PARENTAL RELEASE AND ACKNOWLEDGEMENT OF ASSUMPTION OF RISK, signed by the minor's parents/guardians. Forms are available from the Mayborn Science Theater. We can email the form.

  • Adults need a PARTICIPANT / INDIVIDUAL RELEASE, ASSUMPTION of RISK, and INDEMNITY AGREEMENT Central Texas College District. Adults sign their own waiver. Forms are available from the Mayborn Science Theater. We can email the form.

We must refuse admission to anyone - scout or adult - without these waivers!

Camp Geek: Saturday Science

WHEN: 1 - 4 p.m.. on the second Saturday of each month

WHAT: The program includes a two-hour, hands-on class and a full-dome show. For more details, see Continuing Education at

FOR: $35 per child ($32 for Mayborn Science Theater members), Ages 5-12 years old
