Frequently Asked Questions

What kind of groups can attend weekday School Programs?
School Programs shows are open to schools throughout Central Texas. These presentations are also open to other organizations including Scouts, home-schools, day cares, camp groups, etc. As always, School Programs require reservations in advance.

Do I need reservations for a weekend public show?
Weekend Public Shows are offered for families, individuals and small private parties. Unlike School Programs which require a reservation, reservations are not needed for weekend Public Shows. The Planetarium seats up to 180 people, so reserved seating is not generally needed. Tickets are sold on a first-come, first-served basis. The Planetarium Lobby opens and ticket sales begin 30 minutes before the first show each day. The Theater doors open and seating begins 5-10 minutes before each show. While the theater is rarely filled to capacity, we recommend you arrive early to ensure you get a ticket and secure your choice of seats. Once the theater doors have closed, ticket sales stop for that show. There is no late admission. ^Top

Can I schedule a group show or function in the Planetarium?
Yes. A group presentation in the Planetarium during non-regular school program hours requires a minimum purchase of 50 seats at a discounted ticket price for the show requested. Groups of more than 50 people must also pay for an additional ticket for each person beyond the first 50. Large Format Film screenings will be charged according to the contract requirement of each particular film. Please call for current information. Group Functions in the Planetarium are scheduled so that they do not interfere with regular schedule of Public Shows, School Programs, or other scheduled activities. Groups smaller than 50 may opt to reserve seats in one of our regularly scheduled public shows. Groups of 20 or more attending a public show will receive our school show rate. ^Top

What about birthday parties in the Planetarium?
Call us if you are interested in bringing your birthday party to the Planetarium. No outside food or drinks are permitted in the Dome Theater. Picnic lunches may be eaten by the duck pond located at the north end of campus. Catering services are available at facilities elsewhere on campus. Otherwise, please refer to the previous question. ^Top
