Driving Directions
The Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT) recently switched traffic from the U.S. 190 westbound main lanes to the newly completed westbound roadway. With the switch, the westbound Bell Tower Drive entrance ramp has been closed for the next four months. This means anyone leaving CTC for Copperas Cove and points further west, must use Clear Creek Rd. to access westbound U.S. 190. Traffic from Killeen will still be able to exit at Bell Tower Drive to access the campus.
Also all eastbound traffic from Copperas Cove and beyond must use the Clear Creek Rd. exit to access CTC as the Bell Tower Drive entrance on that side will be closed for approximately another four months.
Once complete, the U.S. 190 expansion project will provide additional roadway capacity with the addition of an inside travel lane in both east and westbound directions. Culverts and bridges will also be widened and a concrete traffic barrier will be permanently installed between opposing travel lanes. Scheduled completion date is fall 2008.
Parking
Since the planetarium shares a parking lot with classrooms and offices, many spaces are reserved. Do not park in any space marked as reserved, even during weekend public shows. If there are no spaces available in the lot adjacent to the planetarium, additional parking is available across the street in a large overflow lot.
Bus parking is available on Bell Tower Drive for the loading and unloading of passengers. Please do not attempt to park buses in the Planetarium Lot, due to heavy pedestrian and vehicle traffic.
Buses may be parked in the much larger parking lot up the hill on Bell Tower Drive. From this upper lot, passengers will be readily visible and may be picked up as they exit the building.
FROM POINTS EAST including Belton, Temple, and Cameron.
From Interstate-35, EXIT onto West Highway 190 (also called also called Central Texas Expressway).
EXIT at Clear Creek Road, one exit past the Fort Hood main gate. Cross over the highway, and turn right at the first stoplight on University Drive. Just past the turn, a small white sign identifies this as the Central Texas College South Entrance…
Proceed to the stop sign at the end of the road, and TURN RIGHT onto Bell Tower Drive.
Down the hill, just past Academic Drive, TURN LEFT into Planetarium Parking Lot "J. "
Parking is available in the lot in front of the planetarium. Please do not park in the reserved spaces at any time. Violators will be ticketed by the campus police. ^Top
FROM POINTS WEST including Highway 190, Copperas Cove, and Lampasas
From Lampasas, travel east on Highway 190, through the town of Copperas Cove .
If you reach Copperas Cove less than 30 minutes before the scheduled start of your presentation, please call 254-526-1768, to alert us that you may be running late.
Approximately six miles past Cove you will see an exit for Central Texas College at Bell Tower Road. Just past this is the Clear Creek Road (Hwy 201) Exit.
Turn right onto campus, and then follow Bell Tower Drive, past the duck pond and through a second stop sign. As you come around the corner, you will see the planetarium dome ahead on the right.

FROM POINTS SOUTH including Highway 195, Florence, and Georgetown
Highway 195, which may be accessed from I-35 just north of Georgetown, is a shorter and more pleasant alternative to the busy interstate highway.
Travel north on Highway 195 through the small town of Florence.
EXIT at Stan Schlueter Loop (Highway 3470) just as you enter the Killeen city limits, about 17 miles north of Florence .
TURN LEFT on Stan Schlueter Loop , heading west.
TURN RIGHT at Clear Creek Road (Hwy 201), heading north. Past Shoemaker High School to your right, and just before Metroplex Hospital on your left, TURN LEFT onto Bell Tower Drive.
After passing the helicopter landing pad and the water tower on your right, continue as the road curves to the right. You are now on the campus of Central Texas College.
Continue past the Physical Education and Physical Facilities buildings on your left.
