Warren on Youtube Live!

Man! It's been awhile since my last post. The staff has been working pretty hard to improve your experience here at the Mayborn Science Theater and things are not different with me.

A few days ago, after our social media meeting I had a crazy idea: broadcasting stuff live on Youtube. That idea came mostly from what I do in my time off as a gamer. I love to stream gameplay and talk to others while they are streaming. It is a fun experience. Then I tought "why not do it here?"

The first show that came to my mind was Warren's Star Tour. Having Warren talk live on Youtube, accesible from your phone and computer during and after the live stream seemed a pretty neat idea. Alright, idea built. Now, I had to make it happen.

My previous experience as a streamer gave me most of the knoledge I needed to accomplish the task. However, I had no idea how live streams worked on Youtube but, thanks to Killian, we were able to pull it off. It envolved several hours figuring out the best way to get the dome audio into the stream without noise, which was only acomplished 48 prior to the event.

The day of the event was even crazier. I forgot I didn't have transitions and our logo on the stream. No problem. Killian got it ready to go in no time with his ninja photoshop skills. Okay, all ready to go right? No. We were missing the most important aspect of all: viewers! We did no advertising what so ever of the event! Nothing on Facebook, Twitter or anywhere!

All the staff started sharing the link on their social networks and the result was very exciting to us. The stream was a success! I was very happy with it myself.

Of course, to get the full experience, with the stars and everything you have to come here. However, to have that kind of information while you look at the beautiful night sky of central texas is something else.

The next Star Tour will be on December 20, at 6:30 pm. If you can't make it, you know where to go. Click here to go to the live stream. Note that it will be live only the day and time of the event. Accessing anytime earlier than that will give you a countdown.

If you missed the last Star Tour, here it is. Enjoy!

We are still brainstorming on ideas on how to make it better. Have an idea? Help us out and leave a coment. See ya!
